The Contrarian Perspective Which No One Talks About
What I am about to tell you may shock you. You might find it strange or even contrary to your understanding of world history. Nevertheless, let me promise you—this is the truth. This truth will free you from the chains of one-dimensional intellectualism and help you see the present world from a new and realistic perspective.
The Western world claims to have been the first to experience the Renaissance in the 14th or 15th century, setting itself apart from the rest of the world. This period saw significant progress in science, technology, philosophy, and human education, supposedly liberating society from superstition and dogmatism. But if that is the case, one question remains unanswered:
Why did Europe, after the Renaissance, become the most colonizing force in the world?
In the next 300 to 400 years, European nations colonized almost the entire world. How can a society claiming to be enlightened introduce a new form of slavery, exploit resources, and normalize theft and destruction? Either the claim of wisdom is false, or there is more to the story.
The truth is that the Renaissance was either:
1. An imported and artificially implanted scientific and materialistic movement, carried forward from the Greeks to the Arabs before arriving in Europe—proving that wisdom cannot be artificially created; it must be organic.
2. A completely materialistic revolution, devoid of any human principles—driven purely by trade, economic expansion, and the subjugation of others.
If we examine the last 500 years of Western history, we see a pattern of colonization, domination, and hegemony. Europe colonized vast regions of Asia, Africa, and beyond. More than resource theft, the true horror lies in the genocides committed against indigenous populations—Native Americans, Aboriginal Australians, and African communities all suffered brutal colonization and mass atrocities.
Even if we set aside the ancient age of conquest, kingdoms, and empires, the modern era of the West is no different. In the last 100 years alone, the West has fought World War I and World War II, resulting in over 10 million deaths and unimaginable destruction of resources, leading to global economic collapse. These wars were fought to determine the rightful master of Europe. Ultimately, it took World War II to settle this question—not by appointing a European leader, but by elevating a separate nation from its European legacy.
Yet, even after securing dominance, the West—led by the imperial power—has continued to wage war, causing destruction year after year. Consider these deliberate wars that killed countless of innocent people.
- The war on Korea
- The war on Vietnam.
- The West led wars on Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Lebanon etc.
- The genocide in Palestine
- The war on Iran
- The west led countless low intensity conflicts in West Asia and Africa
The ongoing Ukraine war, another power struggle within the West itself, as they battle to determine who will dominate Europe. The preparations to fight more future wars etc.
The Western history is a history of wars and destruction. Year after year, conflicts erupt—there is hardly a single year without war and devastation. Now the basic questions arise which need to be asked to the west in particular and the world in general.
Why is the West incapable of coexisting peacefully with the rest of the world?
Why does it rely on domination and hegemony instead of fostering a mutual, shared civilization?
Why is the military-industrial complex the foundation of Western policy?
For centuries, the West has mastered science, technology, and materialism, and the world has aspired to learn from it. But now, it is time for the West to learn something in return—Humanity. The west must learn to coexist with the comity of nations by sharing and caring and that is what civilization is. Civilization is not built on war, conquest, or oppression; it is built on peace and liberation. The west needs to build civilizations of humanity which it has not built for almost 500 years or so. The west needs to heed the voice of the world.
